Annual State Police winter coat drive is godsend for Elizabeth children

Winter arrived before the start of school Friday. Temperatures climbed into the 40s, according to thermometers, but a brisk wind reminded us that cold will stake a claim in these parts for the next three months.
And so, as they typically do about this time of year, the State Police showed up at schools in Camden, Trenton, Newark and, on Friday, Elizabeth. With armfuls of coats.

日本語に訳すと，「恵まれない子たちにコートを寄付する」ということでしょうか。ここのdriveは 「（…のための）（組織的）運動(campaign)，（慈善などのための）募金運動（charity）」と，とれます。暖かいコートを羽織って，寒くて身も凍るような季節を乗り切りなさいといういきな運動を州警察が長年，続けているのですね。日本でも同様のいろいろな形のdriveがありますが，私も何かの形で参加しようと思います。（Sugar）
