学部生時代にはおきまりのdebating活動にのめり込みました。参加したコンテストも数知れず。でも、２０年以上も前にどこだったかのコンテストの審査を機に完全に足を洗ってしまいました。その程度の経験しかありませんが、debate Nodaという表現形式にははじめて出会いました。
このdebateは他動詞？debate (the issue) with~という形ならわかりますが、with が省略？Koyamamotoくん、どうでしょうかね。（UG）
Noda, Abe to hold debate Thursday on Internet
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and opposition leader Shinzo Abe have agreed to participate in a debate on Thursday over the Internet. Noda told reporters on Saturday that the lower house election on December 16th will determine who governs Japan. The Prime Minister said it is important for voters to see the differences between the leaders of the ruling and main opposition parties through a public debate.
Abe told reporters that he is ready to debate the outcome of the Democrats" rule over the past 3 years. Abe said he wants the public to see the policy differences between his Liberal Democratic Party and Noda's Democratic Party.
He agreed to debate Noda on an Internet program scheduled for November 29th, in which he had already been invited to appear.
The 2 parties are discussing whether or not to invite the leaders of other political parties to take part in the Internet debate.
The Democratic Party is also urging the LDP to agree to a separate one-on-one televised debate between their leaders.
