NHKで、伊豆の小林大先生のお膝元のニュースをやっていました。カピバラの温泉入浴です。
人間様のようにどっぷりと身体をお湯にゆだねるのではなく、ちょっとだけ浸かるという感じで、まさにtake a dipという表現がぴったりでした。これは「ちょっと泳ぐ、一泳ぎする」というときにもよく使われる便利な言い回しです。（UG）
Capybaras thanked for annual dip in bath
A natural theme park southwest of Tokyo has marked 30 years since it began offering an open-air bath to its giant rodents called capybaras. The park in Ito City has 10 capybaras, known as the world's largest rodent.
The critters are native to South America. The capybaras have been treated to a natural spa every winter since it can get bitterly cold in Japan.
A mascot modeled after the rodent was given a letter of gratitude for drawing tourists. This year's spa was then opened to the capybaras, and just like humans, they tested the waters before taking a dip. Babies born in August swam around in the bath, to the delight of human onlookers.
A woman said she was happy to see the animals looking cozy in the bath. The park's chief, Hideyo Tsutsumi, said animal-keepers decades ago were afraid the capybaras would catch cold, but the creatures seem fine. The rodents will be able to enjoy the open-air bath until early April.
