go national
go badやgo madのように、go+形容詞は、come+形容詞とは対照的に(例:Dreams come true.)、「悪者」のイメージだけ強調される傾向にありました。でも最近よく使われるgo greenやgo internationalなどには「勢い」のようなものを感じます。日本維新の会は今のところ勢いはあるようですが、中味も充実したものであってほしいと願います。(UG)
Osaka mayor goes national with new political party
Popular Osaka mayor Toru Hashimoto announced that his new political party would go national, in an attempt to tap growing nationalist sentiment among Japanese, according to press reports.
“Our glorious country Japan has fallen into a state of decline,” Hashimoto told a crowd of backers at a fund-raising party in Osaka, western Japan. He announced that his party would go national, marking the beginning of his de facto campaign for a national election. “Let’s fight together … to once again revive a glorious Japan,” he said, quoted by Reuters.
Hashimoto’s speech is inspiring for the Japanese who are angered by the deepening disputes between Tokyo and Beijing and Seoul over islands in the region, analysts say.
