stamp one's signature

GPくんのfollow-upです。ここのbelonged toも捨てがたいのですが、stamp his signatureは「(特技で)彼の存在感を示す」という意味です。それにしてもNYTはずっとSuzukiという呼び方できています。(UG)

Pettitte Is Early Attraction but Suzuki Steals Show

While the afternoon belonged to Pettitte, Ichiro Suzuki stamped his signature on the doubleheader: making a game-saving catch in the opener, slapping the decisive hit in the 2-1 victory in the nightcap, going 7 for 8 over all, and stealing four bases in four attempts.

“That’s tough to do,” said Derek Jeter, who collected his 200th hit in the second game.

As much as the Yankees envisioned that Suzuki would be energized by joining a playoff race when they acquired him from Seattle on July 24, they could not have expected a day like this.
“I don’t know if you ever imagine a guy going 7 for 8 on the day,” Manager Joe Girardi said. “We knew he could get huge hits for us. We knew he could do a lot of different things for us. You saw a lot of it today.”

The sweep enabled the Yankees to take sole possession of first place as they won a fourth straight game for the first time since Aug. 8-11.
