小見出しのhead-to-headは「接近戦（の）；大接戦（の）」という意味で知られるイディオムですが，副詞で「一対一で, 直接対決で」という意味もあります（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。今回は「Audiの新A2は（Mercedesの）B-Classに対抗する（ことができるか）」と解釈できます。
