to earn business class seats

結果いかんでは、もはやbusiness(C class 業界の言い方)ではなく、First(F class)でもいいのでしょうね。

(UG)

Women soccer team earned business class seats

Japan’s women soccer team secured an upgrade to business class on their way home from the Olympic games, the team’s coach Norio Sasaki said.

He referred indirectly to the presumed sexist incident from the outbound flight, when his team travelled in economy class on the way to Europe, while their less-successful male colleagues took the business class seats in the same airplane.

The women’s team has qualified for the final in the Olympic tournament, where it will face United States on Thursday at Wembley Stadium. On the other hand, the male team has been eliminated on Tuesday in the semi-finals by Mexico (1-3) and will return home without medals.

“The Japan Football Association is trying to work something out,” Sasaki said, referring to his team being placed in the business class for the flight back to Japan.

“When we came here we came in premium economy and there wasn’t a problem,” he said. “The problem is when we go back there will probably not be enough business seats available. If that’s the case we will be in premium again,” joked Sasaki. “If you look at the way we played then you will see that we are very patient and would put up with economy.”
