田邉先生が仰るとおり，記事のjump onだけでは「飛び乗る，飛び掛かる」という印象は受けても，「馬乗り」のニュアンスはあまり感じられないような気がいたします。以前，「またがる」という英語を調べたとき，astrideという単語に当たりました。今回もそれを頼りに辞書を引いてみるとsit astride a horseで「馬にまたがる」とありました（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。さらに，和英も引いてみると，”I found the boy sitting astride his little brother.”という用例と共にsit astrideが用いられています（『スーパー・アンカー和英辞典』第2版，学習研究社）。
これらの意味・用例などから， sit astrideがjump on の代わりになるのではないかと思いました。（GP）
