A door-to-door police investigation found that a man resembling Takahashi caught a taxi near the company dorm and got off in Yokohama. Although the taxi did not have a security camera, the driver's description of the man led police to believe the passenger was Takahashi, the sources said.

Police have combed the area where the man left the taxi, but have not ruled out the possibility that he used a bus or other means to continue his escape.
