faux pas
日本、中国、韓国の首脳会議が北京で開催され、３か国のFTA（＝free-trade agreement、自由貿易協定）について年内の交渉開始が合意されましたが、予定されていた中国からのトキ（ibis）寄贈に関する署名式は先送りなりました。一説には韓国側が日本と同時に贈呈を受けるのを拒んだとのことですが、外交上のポカとなりました。
faux pasはフランス語から英語に入ったフレーズで、faux（＝false）、pas（=step）という意味で、英語のblunder（社会的な意味での「へま」、「失策」、「ポカ」）に相当します。
