Waddle said: “I think if we’re honest, when he signed for Bolton on loan, no one really expected him to make as big an impact as Jack Wilshere or Daniel Sturridge had done in previous seasons.
“He was a completely unknown quantity when he went there but he’s been such a bright spark for Bolton. He’s the kind of player they are really going to need to stay in the Premier League.
“He has pace, enthusiasm, he’s busy, and the lad has shown he can finish, too."

前者は「彼は完全に未知数の選手だった。」という意味。an unknown quantityは「未知数の人」となることから，quantityには場合によって「人」を表す意味があるのですね（『オーレックス英和辞典』旺文社）。後者は「彼には活気がある」という意味です。busyの「活気に満ちた，賑やかな」という意味は，場所などに対して使われることが多いのですが，ここでは「ボールがたくさん来て忙しくも活気に満ちたプレーをする」というニュアンスが込められているのでしょうか。いずれにしてもベタ褒めされています。（Sugiuchi）
