allowといえば「許す」という意味を思い浮かべますが，ここでは違う意味で使われているようです。そこで，辞書で調べてみると，allowには「許す」以外に「（時間・金など）を（・・・に）取っておく，充てる」という意味があることが分かりました（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。よって，ここの文は，「車を駐車場に止めるのに45分は余裕をみておかなければならない」ということが書かれていることが分かります。（ゼミ生 カメ女）
