Virgin America's Chartered Airbus A320 Will Be a Crazy Party Plane

We salivated when Gilt City announced its outrageous Cyber Monday deal—a $60,000 chartered flight onboard a Virgin America Airbus A320, complete with naming rights to the plane—and now we know exactly who to envy. A group of alumni from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business snapped up the deal and will jet 146 people from San Francisco to Miami for a weekend-long party from April 27 to 29. 



The shenanigans will begin on the flight itself—where dress code will be “ridiculous ’70s disco gear” and the booze will flow freely—and continue through Sunday with exclusive pool parties, a White Party Saturday night, and daytime beach bashes. The flight is officially sold out (the group limited seats to 2009, 2010, and 2011 grads and their plus-ones), but the party is still open and some 200 people have already RSVP’d to on-the-ground celebrations.

As for the bird’s name, that’s still, well, up in the air, says Liz Anderson, a 2010 MBA grad who helped organize the trip. “We're definitely going to pick something that refers to our Stanford Business School social club, called Friends of Arjay Miller or FOAM,” Anderson says. “The group that got together to buy the plane were all former leaders of the club.”
