slapstick

ある学者達が，子供向けのアニメについての研究を行いました。以下はMail Online（05/25/11付け）からの引用です。

Each child was shown one of four versions of a five-minute animated short created for the study, designed to resemble familiar slapstick comedy, and then led them through a questionnaire.
They found that the violent content had an indirect negative effect on whether boys enjoyed a programme, due to how they identified with the characters.

注目したのはslapstickです。辞書には「ドタバタ喜劇」とありました（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第3版，大修館書店）。もともとslapstickとは，先の割れている木でできた棒のことです。この棒を使って大きな音を出したり，人を叩いたりして劇を盛り上げました。日本でいうと，ハリセンのようなものでしょうか。このことから転じて，ドタバタ喜劇となったようです。ドタバタ劇を笑いととるか，暴力ととるかは人それぞれ違いますが，現代の子供は暴力ととらえているようです。（ゼミ生 b.m.）
