knowの意味合い

ここでの注目はknowの持つ意味です。中学生ですでに習うknowですが，ここでのknowは少し奥が深いのです。Cambridge Advanced Learners’ Dictionaryで調べてみると，to be familiar with or have experience and understanding ofとありました。ここから，日本語の「知っている」より，英語のknowはこの呼称が「知れわたる→定着する」というニュアンスになることが分かります。ちなみに各紙とも期せずしてwill be knownという言い回しを使っていました。ちなみに王室の呼称については各紙がとりあげているので参照してください。（persimmon柿生）
