With no end in sight to DPJ feud over Ozawa, Okada weighs in
The tussle within the ruling Democratic Party of Japan over power broker Ichiro Ozawa has disintegrated into bickering over the "meaning" of a party executives' meeting, showing the dispute will likely drag on.
DPJ Secretary-General Katsuya Okada emphasized that the meeting Monday had given him the authority to meet with Ozawa and try to persuade him to appear before a Lower House political ethics panel to explain a money scandal.
Okada also said such authority enabled him to seek a vote of panel members to summon Ozawa if he refused to attend on his own initiative.

今回採り上げるのは見出しのPV（phrasal verb），weigh inです。これは一般的に「〈ボクサージョッキーなどが〉（試合前に）計量する；計量で（…の）重量がある」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）という意味ですが，その他に口語で「｟事業・論争などに｠〈…をもって〉参加[介入]する，援助する，仲裁にはいる，じゃまにはいる」（『リーダーズ英和辞典』第2版，研究社）という意味があります。今回，小沢氏の問題は岡田幹事長に一任されているため，結果的に岡田幹事長が仲介役となっているわけです。
