Authorities said Tuesday that 23 people have been injured since Sunday by monkeys, believed to be Japanese macaques, appeared in residential areas on the outskirts of Mishima in Shizuoka Prefecture.
まず，見出しではmonkeysとなっていますが，記事中では原則として正確な情報が求められますのでJapanese macaques（ニホンザル）となります。macaqueという単語は以前camelくんが書いた記事にありましたね。

homeとhouseの違いについては『スーパーアンカー英和辞典』（第4版，学研教育出版）に解説がありましたので，引用します。
「（1）houseは具体的な建物としての家で，homeは特に家族に重点を置いてその営みがある場所をいう。1人住まいでもある期間住み続けて根を下ろし，『心の拠点』と感じている所はhomeである。…（2）不動産関連では家族の『ぬくもり』や『くつろぎ』を伝えるためhomeを『住宅』（house）の意味に用いることも多く，この場合はC扱い。」
つまり，記事では「人が生活している場所（家）に侵入した」という生活感，あるいは臨場感を出すためにhomesになっていると考えられます。

domestic incursionsはdomesticを目的語にして「民家に侵入する」と訳せます。ちなみに，被害は25日の時点で計37件報告されているので複数形になっています。stand guardは「歩哨に立つ」（『リーダーズ英和辞典』第2版，研究社）という意味で，「見張り番」を指します。

performはto do something such as a job or piece of work（Longman Active Study Dictionary）とあり，operation（手術）やbiopsy （生検），今回のsearch（追跡）といった語を目的語にとることが可能です。
simian assailantに関しては，simianが「類人猿［サル］の；類人猿［サル］に特有の［に似た］」，assailantが「攻撃［襲撃］者；加害者；論敵」という意味で，言うまでもなくJapanese macaquesのことですが，繰り返しを避けるためにこのように表現されていると考えられます。（院生 小山本）
