trustworthy

前回，7月6日の登板で大量5失点を喫し，敗戦投手となったボストン・レッドソックスの松坂大輔投手。11日の試合では前回の汚名返上となったのでしょうか。MLB.comでは以下の様に伝えています。
Daisuke blanked the Blue Jays for six innings until serving up a two-run homer to Aaron Hill in the seventh. It was a great sign to see the right-hander go without issuing a free pass after he walked 12 batters in just 16 innings over his last three starts. He'll have to prove capable of stringing together a few more good outings to be trustworthy in fantasy lineups, however, as his ERA sits at a mediocre 4.56 with a 1.39 WHIP.

太字で示したtrustworthyには「〈人・情報などが〉信用[信頼]できる，当てになる」という意味があります（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版， 大修館書店）。｢信用できる｣という意味する単語は他にも，reliable，dependable，credibleなどがあります。なぜ，trustworthyが選択されたのでしょうか。
trustworthyにはtrustが入っています。英英辞典では意味の差異はあまり見られませんでしたが，上記の事から推測するに，trustworthyには「強い信頼性」の意が内在しているのではないかと感じました。
今回，辛うじて勝利を収めた松坂投手ですが，上記の文面からすると，球団，マスコミが考える「先発投手に対する信頼基準」にはまだまだ達していないようです。松坂投手が周りからの絶対的な信頼を勝ち得るためには，今回以上の良い成績を続けて出す事が求められています。次の試合も松坂投手には正念場となりそうです。（ゼミ生 gacha）
