　『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版、大修館書店）には「〔人に〕嫌悪感［憎悪］を引き起こす、ひどい、いやな、最悪の」とありました。LDOCEでは“extremely unpleasant or of very bad quality”と定義されています。
　また、LDOCEに“Old French Latin abominabilis, from abominari “to treat as a bad omen, abominate”, from ab- “away” + omen”と語源の説明がなされていました。omi-がomenの意味を持つそうです。
過去のブログではこの単語を使ったabominable snowmanというものが紹介されていました。yetiしか知らなかったので、こちらも頭に入れておきたいです。(rain)
