今回はhit the shelvesを紹介します。なんとなく意味は想像できるかと思います。

『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）には「＜新刊書が＞書店（の書棚）に並ぶ, 新発売になる」とあります。LDOCEにはhit the shopsで “a product hits the shops it becomes available to buy” と定義しています。

また、動詞hit /hít/ には「＜商品が＞＜市場＞に出る；…で公表される」とあります。（ウィズダム英和辞典）ここから上記の表現ができたのではないでしょうか。

記事の内容に戻りますと、今年は街を歩いていてもダウンを着ている人が多いと思いました。流行した理由としては、軽くて暖かいというのがポイントだそうです。(amphibian)
