今回はpanel /pˈænl/ を紹介します。カタカナ英語として使われている「パネル」ですが、ここでは他の意味で使われています。

『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）では第３義に「[集合的に；単数・複数扱い]陪審団；陪審員」とあり、主に米で使われています。
LDOCEには “a group of people who are chosen to listen to a case in a court of law and decide the result” と定義されていました。

ちなみにスコットランドでは「被告人」の意味になるそうです。

記事に戻りますと、親を突然奪われた子供たちのことを思うと、胸が苦しくなります。二度とこのような悲惨な事故が起きないよう願うばかりです。(amphibian)
