今回はrevert /rɪvˈɚːt/ を紹介します。記事から「元に戻る」という意味を推測しました。LDOCEには “to change back to its situation that existed in the past” とあり、go back toと同じ意味とあります。『ジーニアス英和辞典』では「[前の状態・話題などに]戻る」「＜財産などが＞[…に]復帰する」と記載されていました。続いて語源を調べてみました。Merriam-Websterにはラテン語で「回る, 向く」を表すrevertereから派生したとあります。
