　knock-on effectを取り上げます。文脈から「すべてをダメにする」といった意味かと推測しました。
　『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版、大修館書店）には「ドミノ効果、将棋倒し、連鎖反応」とありました。LDOCEではto start a process in which everything that happens causes something else to happenと定義されています。また、Oxford Living Dictionariesではknock-onをA secondary, indirect, or cumulative effect.と定義しています。このことからknock-onだけでもknock-on effectの意味があるのではないかと思いました。ちなみにこの表現はイギリス英語です。ほかの表現も調べてみたところ、chain reactionやdomino effectやsnowball effectというものがあるということが分かりました。(rain)
