My impression
I took part in an academic conference held at Kanda Campus, Senshu University yesterday. There were five presentations and three special talks in total.
Let me tell you about two things that interested me particularly throughout the day.
One is a presentation about a development of an English pronunciation software by Dr. Orii of Waseda University and Dr. Ooga of Hokkaido University of Education. They told the audience that they have been using the software to improve their students’ English pronunciation. I thought it was really beneficial for us to use it in that we were able to try to imitate native sounds and repeat them.
The other one is an importance of the interaction. When someone is giving a talk, an one-way style is indeed interesting. But adding some questions or making the audience think about something would be more intriguing. If I have a chance to make a public speech or a presentation, these techniques will help me a lot.
Last, I can’t thank you enough for giving me such a precious opportunity to learn new things. I want to take advantage of what I felt to my academic life.(seventh-dan)
