Some members of Dr. Tanabe’s Seminar took part in a conference of PEPSJ on the Kanda campus of Senshu University. The conference had five presentations and three lectures, including the one by Dr. Tanabe.
Through them, I learned a lot of things that would help me teach English at school from next April on. What I was impressed most by was the idea “Japanese English”. Dr. Honna explained the idea to us in his lecture. English have spread throughout the world and are used as International language by Non-native speakers. In the process of English being fixed, people can change it into THEIR English because it is easy to communicate. But, Japan doesn’t agree with it. Why? This is because we don’t often speak and write English by ourselves. That is, we don’t use it sufficiently in our real life.
I also think we need “Japanese English” because we all should learn it as International Language. I want to think about the idea deeply and make use of it for our life. (OkaUchi)
