　気になったのは、pocketbook /pɑ́kitbùk/ です。文脈から、金銭的な意味での「懐」を表しているのではないかと考えました。
　まず『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、「持ち金、財力、資力、懐具合」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“the amount of money that you have, or your ability to pay for things”と定義されています。
　ちなみに、この単語はpocketとbookに分けることができます。pocketには「所持金」、bookには「帳面」という語義があります。これらを合わせたものがpocketbookになるのだと思います。推測にすぎませんが、家計簿のようなものからきている表現なのかもしれません。(Blue Sky)
