神奈川県三浦市のビーチに、観光客の間で人気の少し変わった娯楽があるそうです。

MIURA, Kanagawa Prefecture--Here’s a mode of sea transport with plenty of horsepower, and one that is going down a storm with holidaymakers--horse riding in the surf.

The idyllic “Sea Swimming with Horses” summer-only tours are offered at this beach by local company Horse Trekking Farm Miurakaigan.

Some holidaymakers can even enjoy “tail surfing,” in which they are carried along through the water clutching onto a horse’s tail.

The tours take place in shallow waters of up to 1.5 meters, and beginning riders can feel at ease joining in, according to a company official.

Yuka Yoneshige, 24, who lives in Sagamihara in the same prefecture, smiled and said, “The horse I rode did a good job despite the heavy waves. It was fun.”
