intrepidntrépɪd/ が気になりました。まずLDOCE で定義を確認してみると“willing to do dangerous things or go to dangerous places – often used humorously”とあり、文頭のheart rateを用いたセンテンスとマッチする意味合いだとわかります。 次に『ジーニアス英和辞典』を参照すると「大胆(不敵)な(bold), 恐れを知らない(fearless)」とありました。

最後に『オックスフォード新英英辞典』で語源を調べると、late 17th cent. : from French intrépide or Latin intrepidus, from in- ‘not’ + trepidus ‘alarmed. と載っています。同義語にはbold, fearlessの他にbrave, adventurous が挙げられていました。(Kiwi girl)
