水木しげるロードがリニューアルしたようです。
The ghouls and goblins of Mizuki Shigeru Road here are back to their best after a major facelift, with new wider sidewalks ideal for spooky evening strolls.
The 800-meter-long attraction, which is named after the late cartoonist best known for the “Gegege no Kitaro” horror manga series, reopened on July 14.
The city government spent about 1.3 billion yen ($11.66 million) on the renovation project, about 320 million yen of which was used for new lighting.

今回取り上げるのはspooky /spúːki/ です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版、大修館書店）には「お化けの出てきそうな、うす気味悪い」とありました。またLDOCEにはstrange or frightening in a way that makes you think of ghostsと定義されていました。
「お化け」という意味から想像がつくと思いますが、ハロウィーンの時によく使われる単語のようです。辞書には載っていませんでしたが、spectacularをもじったものでspooktacularという表現があるということも分かりました。(rain)
