まずLDOCEを参照すると“a medical condition affecting your brain, that can make you suddenly become unconscious or unable to control your movements for a short time”と定義されており、病気の症状が明らかになりました。 : from French épilepsie, or via late Latin from Greek epilēpsía, from epilambanein ‘seize, attack’, from epi ‘upon’ + lambanein ‘take hold of’とありました。

(Kiwi girl)
