今回調べたのは見出しにあったmelt awayです。「溶けてなくなる」では文脈に合いません。どういった意味なのでしょうか。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版,大修館書店）には「…を溶かしてなくす」などといった意味もありましたが、「次第にやわらぐ」という意味もありました。
LDOCEにはif a crowd of people melts away, the people gradually leaveやto gradually disappearと定義されていました。また『ジーニアス英和辞典』でmelt自体にも「次第になくなる」といった意味があるということが確認できました。(rain)
