shortlisted for Tokyo

Dear Dr. Tanabe,

I am sorry for having gone back home earlier than the rest of students yesterday.

We joined a mini lecture given by Dr. Tanabe on a Senshu University’s open school recruit seminar for new high school graduates. I was really surprised to see so many SHS students for the first time in a while. That reminded me of my teaching practice days.

The lecture had ‘dictogloss’, which was one of the activities for improving listening skill. The students who attended the class may have been surprised at a variety of dialects in English because some of them seemed not to have enough acoustic images of English spoken by non-native speakers and others were not used to listening to such a variety of English.

But, they must have been more interested in English than before because they seemed to enjoy the dictogloss activity and have a new perspective on English. I hope many students who have great potential will enter our university in the year to follow.

Yours,

OkaUchi

PS The results of successful candidates who took the recruitment test for the Tokyo Board of Education were announced today. It is a pleasant surprise to see my registered number was among the successful candidates. I have to start preparing for the second round.
