　「コカ・コーラ　クリア」のPRイベントで、氷でできた自動販売機が登場しました。

Icy vending machine rolls out free drinks for SNS exposure

Amid the sweltering summer heat, about 300 parched people cooled down with a chilled Coca-Cola Clear from a vending machine made of ice in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward.

The transparent version of the soft drink favorite was promoted with the 2.5-meter-tall dispenser on July 18 and 19 in front of the Shibuya 109 fashion building next to the famous scramble crossing.

Thirsty customers had to be quick, as the vending machine was available only for about two-and-a-half hours from noon on the first day, when the temperature soared to around 35 degrees, until the ice melted.

parched /pɑ́rtʃt/ を取り上げます。後ろにくるcooled downという部分から、暑さで苦しむ様子を表しているのではないかと思いました。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版　研究社）で調べると「1（文語）（土地などが）からからに乾いた、干からびた 2（略式）のどがからからで」とありました。

　LDOCEには “very dry, especially because of hot weather” と定義されています。また、”be parched” の形で “to be very thirsty” と説明されています。

　氷が溶けるまでの時間は約2時間半で、イベントに参加した約300人が自動販売機の写真をツイッターやインスタグラムに投稿すると無料でコーラがプレゼントされたとのことです。（aqua）
