　今回取り上げるのはstrikingly / stráɪkɪŋli /です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第四版,大修館書店)には「著しく,際立って」とありました。LDOCEにはin a way that is very easy to noticeやused to emphasize that someone or something is beautiful in a way that is easy to noticeと定義されていました。

　「…の印象を与える」といったstrikeの形容詞形のようです。

　outstandingとの違いを調べてみました。outstandingはLDOCEにextremely goodやvery great or clearとあり、「素晴らしい」といった意味合いが強いことが分かりました。(rain)
