Police beef up property protection in flood areas
Japan's National Police Agency has sent additional patrol units to western parts of Japan to protect property left empty by flooding.
The goal is to prevent burglaries of houses and shops, especially in Okayama and Hiroshima prefectures.

今回気になったのは、burglary /bˈɚːgləri/ です。以下で意味等を確認していきます。
まず、LDOCEで意味を引いてみると、“the crime of getting into a building to steal things”とあり、『ウィズダム英和辞典』には、「強盗(罪); 不法侵入(罪); 強盗[不法侵入]事件」とありました。
続いて、ODEで語源を調べてみると、“early 16th cent. : from legal French burglarie, from burgler (see BURGLAR).”と載っていました。
