World’s ‘longest hair on a teen’ to be chopped off for charity wigs
A high school girl who holds the Guinness World Records for “longest hair on a teenager” has decided to give her locks the chop for a good cause.
Eighteen-year-old Keito Kawahara, from Izumi, has received the Guinness World Record certificate for her hair, which measured 155.5 centimeters as of March 4. The length surpasses the previous record by 3.5 cm.
Kawahara, who has grown her hair continuously since birth, said she decided to donate her hair for use in human-hair wigs made for those suffering hair loss due to illness or side effects of medical treatments.
“I will be happy if my hair can contribute to cheering someone up, even just a little,” said the third-year student.
Kawahara was born with sebaceous nevus, a kind of hairless birthmark that typically appears on the head, and her parents kept her hair growing to cover the scar left by the operation to remove it.
