本日取り上げる表現は、dial down です。緊張度合いを下げるという意味合いになるのではないかと考えました。そこで、dialで『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)を引いてみますと、他動詞としての第三義に「（ダイヤルを回して）〈ラジオなど〉を調整する；〜の波長を合わせる、〜を選局する」と記されておりました。特にこの中でも「〜の波長を合わせる」という意味が「（双方の緊張度合い）を（ダイヤルを回して）downする」という解釈に繋がると思いました。(WREN)
