cuddly 復習
平昌オリンピック男子フィギュアスケートではプーさんと平昌オリンピック公式マスコットキャラクター、スホランが競い合いました。
PYEONGCHANG, South Korea--At Gangneung Ice Arena, an epic battle played out during the men’s figure skating competition, but it wasn’t Nathan Chen vs. Yuzuru Hanyu.
It was Winnie the Pooh vs. Soohorang.
Soohorang is the cuddly white tiger that has emerged as a highly visible mascot at these games. Pooh is a famous yellow bear and favorite good-luck charm of Hanyu.

cuddly /kˈʌdli/ を取り上げます。文脈からスホランの特徴を意味する語だと読み取れます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』を引くと「抱き締めたいほどかわいい（＝cuddlesome）」「〈おもちゃが〉動物のぬいぐるみの」と記載があります。
LDOCEでは“a person or animal that is cuddly makes you want to cuddle them” “[only before noun] cuddly toys are soft toys designed for children to cuddle”と定義されています。
Cuddlyから連想して「抱き枕」同じような表現になるかと調べてみましたがそのままbody pillowでした。(Kiwi girl)
