Florida high school shooting suspect at large, injuries reported
Several people are reportedly injured after a shooting in a south Florida high school Wednesday and the suspect is still at large, police said.
A shooting occurred about 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., about 30 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale.
What happened: Broward County Public Schools reported the shooting began near dismissal time, when staff and students said they heard the sounds of gunfire.

“dismissal time”を取り上げます。『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、“dismissal”の第３義には「解散、退去；放校」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“when someone is removed from their job”と定義されています。LDOCEの定義だとネガティブなイメージが強いですが、今回の記事で使われている“dismissal time”は悪い意味の表現ではありません。“dismissal time”は「下校時間」であるとUG先生に教えていただきました。今回の記事では違いますが、『ウィズダム英和辞典』とLDOCEを見る限り“dismissal”にはネガティブな定義が多かったので、使用頻度としてはあまり良くない意味で使われることの方が多いのだと思います。(Blue Sky)
