Head of ruined kimono business faces the music and says sorry

YOKOHAMA--Emerging from 18 days in hiding, Yoichiro Shinozaki explained Jan. 26 that panic over the failure of his kimono sales and rental business caused him to let down hundreds of young people needing its services for a Coming-of-Age Day ceremony marking their entry to adulthood.
Appearing at a news conference here, the president of Harenohi said, "I bear full responsibility for having ruined the once-in-a-lifetime Coming-of-Age Day ceremony for young women and their families and leaving a situation that can never be repaired."

　見出しのface the music を取り上げます。音楽は愉快なプラスのイメージがありますがここではand says sorryが続くのでマイナスな意味であると予測しました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』を引くと「自分の不始末にけじめをつける」と記載されています。
　インターネットで調べると由来はいくつかあるそうですがうち2つを紹介します。ひとつは舞台役者世界、もう一つは軍隊のマイナスなエピソードからきているようです。舞台役者はオーケストラ、軍隊 は軍楽隊つまり音楽の方を義務的に向かなければならないことが共通しています。上記では音楽は関係ありませんが記者の方を向いて謝る姿を表しているのかと思います。(Kiwi girl)
