awry /ərάɪ /を取り上げます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』で調べると「曲がった、ゆがんだ、ねじれた」「間違った、不首尾で」と記載されています。使用例では“The plan has gone awry”とあります。LDOCEではgo awryで“if something goes awry, it does not happen in the way that was planned”と定義されています。2番目の意味で使用される場合は上記と同じくgoとセットで用いられるようです。
