交際していた少女にキスをしたなどとして、埼玉県教委から懲戒免職処分を受けた同県東部の公立中学校の教諭だった２０代男性が、県に処分取り消しを求めた訴訟を起こしました。処分は裁量権の乱用だというのがその主張です。。

SAITAMA--A court ruled that a junior high school teacher who was sacked after his relationship with teenaged student came to light was dismissed unfairly as the pair were seriously dating.

“boot out”を取り上げます。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第３班、三省堂)を引いたところ、「«…から»〈人〉を追い出す、クビにする(out) «out of»」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“to force someone to leave a place, job, or organization, especially because they have done something wrong”と定義されていました。意味的には“throw out”と同じであるそうです。先日“get the boot”という表現を取り上げましたが、今回の記事の“boot”が動詞で使われているパターンです。(Blue Sky)
