　朝ゼミで言及された面白い表現を取り上げます。

A few months ago, McDonald’s U.S. decided to throw logic out the window by inventing a french fry fork, dubbed the FRORK. Comprising a silicone fork with a hole where the prongs should be, the utensil lets consumers insert three french fries to create their very own edible fork.
Commercials claim that the FRORK is the perfect tool to wipe up any sauce spilled from burgers, which we have to say is a bit of a stretch. Other than being a novelty item, it’s hard to imagine it has any other use besides edible entertainment and/or forking frustration.

　throw logic out the windowは直訳すると「窓の外に論理を追い出す、投げる」となりますが、インターネットによると「筋の通った判断を捨てる」と記載されていました。つまり、UG先生が教えてくださったように「常識を覆す」という訳になります。また『ジーニアス英和辞典』を引くとout (of) the windowで「無用な、捨てさるべき」とありました。他にも動詞の使い分けで様々な意味になるのではないかと思い調べると、go out (of) the windowとjump out (of) the windowが載っていました。前者は“if a quality, principle, or idea goes out of the window, it does not exist any more”と定義されていました。後者はそのままの意味で「窓の外に飛び降りる」を意味しますが、“when you confess your love to someone, you think I’m ready to jump out the window”といったようにふざけて使われることもあるようです。またofはしばしば省略されるようです。
　アメリカのマクドナルドがフレンチフライでフォークに見立てたFRORKを提供するという記事でしたが、動画を見た感じではただ一瞬だけネタとなってすぐに人気は無くなってしまうと思いました。しかしアメリカらしい面白い発想であるとも思います。(Kiwi girl)
