Other communities in Rakhine state such as Hindus have also been affected by violence, some allegedly committed by Rohingya militants. But correspondents say that the widespread reports of abuse of Rohingya indicate that they have been disproportionately affected.
The military has been widely accused of conducting ethnic cleansing and genocide, but it has rejected all these allegations, saying it has only targeted Rohingya militants.

この語と同義語の関係にあるものに “professedly”と “purportedly” や “avowedly” などが上げられます。確認のためそれぞれの定義を英英辞典でみると、“professedly” が“ used to refer to a belief or feeling that someone says they have or feel, but is probably not sincere ”と定義されていて、 “purportedly” は “in a way that is stated to be true, although this may not be the case” と説明がなされていて、“avowedly” は “as has been asserted, admitted, or stated publicly; openly” と見なされていることがわかります。
それぞれの語を比較すると、“allegedly”と“purportedly”は、片方が発言しているだけでその内容に信憑性が確かなものでないため、多くの人が一つの噂程度でしか捉えていない場合に用いられることが窺えます。また、“professedly” と“avowedly” は公の場で発する場合に用いられ、その発言の内容に確信が持てる場合と持てない場合どちらの状況でも使用されることがいえます。
ロヒンギャの住民が現地から避難、亡命しようと危険な渡航を余儀なくされその結果、ロヒンギャの人々が犠牲になるケースがこのところ後を絶ちません。近年、国連を中心とした国際支援を行っている団体による難民に対する支援が、より一層必要とされています。(Hapidra)
