　whistleblower / wɪ́səlblòʊɚ / を取り上げます。表記から「啓蒙者」のような人物をイメージし, 『リーダーズ英和中辞典』(研究社)で調べると, 「<俗>密告者」とありました。このことから, “whistle” は単に「口笛」だけでなく, 「悪事」も意味することがわかります。また口語で「のど」を指す場合もあるようです。Dictionary.comには “a person who informs on another or makes public disclosure of corruption or wrongdoing” と定義されています。
