Myanmar stops N. Korean coal export to China due to sanctions
SEOUL--Myanmar thwarted a North Korean attempt to sidestep U.N. sanctions by refusing to allow a freighter to dock with a cargo of coal bound for China.
North Korea was desperate to earn foreign currency from the transaction, sources here said Sept. 5.
They said that North Korea tried to export coal to China through Myanmar from late August to early September in defiance of a new U.N. resolution over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests, but the effort failed because Myanmar did not play ball.

“play ball”を取りあげます。文脈や野球を連想できることから「協力する」となるかと思いました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）で確認すると「（人に）協力する；他人が望むことをする」とありました。Cambridge Dictionaryでは”to agree to work with or help someone in the way they have suggested”と定義されてます。
安保理の制裁決議により今年２月から中国は石炭の取引を停止していたため、北朝鮮側はマレーシアやベトナムに輸出をして5月までに約294億円の外貨を手にしていたそうです。(flying bird)
