ARIDAGAWA, Wakayama Prefecture--A D51 model steam train made a comeback to the tracks of Aridagawa Tetsudo Koen railway park here on June 25, 44 years after its retirement, to the delight of rail fans.
The No. 827 D51 steam locomotive (SL), known by the nickname “Degoichi,” whistled as it embarked on its trial run, thrilling enthusiasts at the park in the town’s Tokuda district that morning.

“second wind”を取り上げます。直訳すると「第２の風」となります。直訳でもなんとなく意味が分かるような気もします。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第３版、三省堂)を引いたところ、「元気の回復」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“a new feeling of energy after you have been working or exercising very hard, and had thought you were too tired to continue”と定義されています。ちなみに、『ウィズダム英和辞典』の第１義には「平静な呼吸」とありました。マラソンの専門用語で「セカンドウインド」は酸素の需要量と供給量のバランスがとれた状態を指すそうです。(Blue Sky)
