Changing of the guard at popular Hokkaido prison museum

ABASHIRI, Hokkaido--A long-serving “prison guard” has finally clocked out after two decades on duty greeting tourists at the entrance to a jail museum in this northern city.
A replacement mannequin now stands in his spot, and some 20 more dolls representing inmates and guards at the Abashiri Prison Museum are also undergoing repairs.
The makeovers will be complete before the Golden Week national holidays of late April and early May, museum officials said.

　“clock out”を取りあげます。

　『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）では「仕事を終える；仕事が終わる」とありました。
LDOCEでは“to record on a special card the time you stop or leave work”と定義されているように、「タイムレコーダーに退出時刻を記録する」といった意味もあることから、「仕事を終える」となったようです。

　反対に「出勤時刻を記録する、仕事を始める」時は“clock in”となります。

　公式サイトを見てみると、25日ごろに半年ぶりに野外人形の設置を行ったそうです。ゴールデンウィーク前に毎年行われ、冬の間の半年間は豪雪のため展示はしていないようです。(flyingbird)
