Banker killed in rescue attempt described as a good Samaritan
KAWASAKI--A former colleague expressed grief over the death of Masashi Kodama, but he was not surprised that his friend died trying to rescue a suicidal stranger.
“He was the kind of person who wanted to help out a person in need,” Akeo Ozeki, a management consultant who once worked at the Bank of Yokohama, said of Kodama. “He was loved by senior colleagues and was trusted by younger colleagues.”
Kodama, 52, an employee in the personnel section of the Bank of Yokohama, was killed April 15 when he was trying to pull an elderly man from a crossing near Hatcho-nawate Station on the Keikyu Line in Kawasaki. The older man was also killed when a train struck the two.

これは新約聖書のルカの福音の中のイエス・キリストのたとえ話から来ているそうです。
強盗に襲われ瀕死の状態にあった男性が道に倒れていても誰も助けようとしない中、ユダヤ人から嫌われていたサマリア人はこの人の救護をし、宿屋まで運び、世話を頼んだ上に宿代も出したことから、永遠の生命のためには神への愛とこのような隣人への愛が必要であることをイエスはユダヤ人の律法学者に説いたそうです。(wikipediaより)
行員の方は普段から優しく正義感があふれる方だったそうで、この勇気ある行動を讃えると同時に非常に悲しい思いでいっぱいになります。(flyingbird)
