Seto nips rival Hagino for splashy victory
NAGOYA — The duel between the Olympic medalists was everything it was hyped up to be. This time, Daiya Seto got the better of Kosuke Hagino, although by the narrowest of margins.
Seto edged Hagino by .01 seconds in the men’s 400-meter individual medley on Thursday night, winning in 4 minutes 10.44 seconds on the opening day of the Japan Championships at Nippon Gaishi Arena in Nagoya.

“hyped up”を取りあげます。LDOCEでは“hype somebody up”で“to make someone feel excited”と定義されていました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）で確認すると「わくわくして、（気持ちが）ハイな、そわそわした」とあります。
“hype”には「（麻薬注射などで）興奮させる」の意味があり、形容詞形の“hyper”ではお馴染みの「すごく興奮した、ハイパーな」となります。
瀬戸選手は萩野選手に0.1秒差で勝利したことから、試合は「白熱」したようです。(flyingbird)
